We talk a lot about Brandon Maxwell when we're at Walmart. But the person we really should be talking about is Denise Incandela. She's Walmart's head of fashion. She joined in 2017, took over fashion in 2021, and brought in Brandon Maxwell that same year to design Scoop and Free Assembly. Her goal, in her words, is for Walmart to be customers' first choice for fashion. Free Assembly is now in every Walmart store. It explains so much of what we're seeing: the fabric, the cuts, the styles. She knows exactly what she's doing.
Last week I put out two Walmart videos - covering as many of the picks (and skips) as possible. It’s worth the watch if you haven’t seen it yet!
If you’ve shopped there, which Walmart piece surprised you the most this year?
PUT ON Wear your best "you got that WHERE?" piece today.

I tried on Scoop pieces yesterday and found them to run very small. I tried the curly white fur and the plaid jacket. Typically, I buy a large and could possibly go a little smaller. Yesterday, I could not even get the extra large on comfortably. I certainly couldn’t get them to meet in the middle. I came home, tried on my large jackets from Scoop, and they fit just fine. So I don’t know what’s going on, but I think they’re sizing them much smaller. I’m not sure if the same is true for the clothes, or if it is just those two pieces.
