Okay, I have a question for you.
Why do we do this thing where we buy something absolutely gorgeous, bring it home, hang it in our closet, and then refuse to wear it?
I mean, what are we really doing when we do that?!
I have been guilty of this more times than I can count.
The beautiful blouse. The fabulous shoes. The sweater that’s almost too nice to wear on a weekday.
We love these things so much that apparently we’ve decided the best way to enjoy them is to never actually use them.
Ha!
And don’t even get me started on the beautiful handbags that spend their entire lives in dust bags.
What if your favorite things weren’t reserved for your favorite days?
What if wearing them was part of what MADE the day special?
The beautiful silk blouse with your everyday jeans.
The fabulous earrings with your sweatshirt.
The expensive handbag on your grocery run.
Why not?!
You don’t need a special occasion to wear something special.
And if someone asks you where you’re going all dressed up, you have my permission to say, “Absolutely nowhere!”
Because sometimes the occasion is simply being alive on a Thursday.
And I think that’s a pretty fabulous reason to get dressed.
PUT ON Today, wear something you’ve been saving.
Not the whole outfit. Just ONE fabulous thing.
Wear it with the most ordinary pieces in your closet and go about your day.
And now I need to know: What’s the beautiful thing you’ve been saving for absolutely no good reason?

I wish you could hypnotize my brain to permanently believe and practice this TODAY. I have cashmere duster/sweaters that will be long out of style when, even today, I would have loved to wrap into one for a few errands including the Dollar Store. I was chilled, I didn’t feel my best, but it would have looked lovely for my husband ( I almost said “just”…who am I dressing for?). I style my hair and my makeup my best every day, but those sweaters will rot in a box for just the right dinner perhaps each getting only one night the entire winter. 🤦🏼♀️
