When you stand before your hangers and think, I just need something to wear, you have given the RAS no direction. It responds with the path of least resistance: the gray sweater, the safe blazer, the pieces that ask nothing of you and offer nothing in return.
But when you name the intention: today I need to feel commanding, or unbound, or like the woman who shifts the energy of the room, the filter locks on. It has its target. Your hand bypasses the usual suspects and finds the piece that has been waiting for this exact directive.
Specificity is the only currency your brain recognizes. Tell it the destination, and it begins mapping the way. Fuzzy targets don’t get hit, as they say.
