Look at this. In 1936, Diana Vreeland started writing a column in Harper’s Bazaar called “Why Don’t You...?” Every line was a tiny dare. Here are a few of hers.
“Why don’t you wash your blond child’s hair in dead champagne, as they do in France?”
“Why don’t you turn your old ermine coat into a bathrobe?”
“Why don’t you wear violet velvet mittens with everything?”

Dead champagne, on a child, because that’s what they do in France. I have so many questions about bath time at that house. And I would love to see those violet velvet mittens in the checkout line at Target.
Every one of them is a permission slip to be a lot.
PUT ON Today, why don’t you wear the ridiculous boots to the grocery store?
